Aminabad Bazaar of Lucknow first came into prominence by the end of the 18th century. The construction began in 1759 under the orders of Shah Alam II who created a marketplace with Imambara, Feelkhana and several shopping centres apart from a beautiful garden. Later, the entire area came under the jurisdiction of Vazir Imdad Hussain Khan, who was fondly called as “Aminuddaula” for the developmental activities he carried out. Eventually, the region later came to be known as Aminabad after the vazir’s title. The modern day Aminabad Park was inaugurated by the Governor of Awadh in 1911.
